Niedersächischer Bund für freie Erwachsenenbildung
30161 Hannover, Germany
Niedersächsischer Bund für freie Erwachsenenbildung e. V. (NBEB, the Lower Saxon League for Liberal Adult Education) is an umbrella organisation of adult education providers in the German Province of Lower Saxony. Its member organisations are 89 publicly funded education providers such as Volkshochschulen, Heimvolkshochschulen (boarding home educational providers), and the adult education organisations of various societal groups such as churches, trade unions and employers.
NBEB is also the supervising body of the Agency for Adult and Continuing Education (AEBW, www.aewb-nds.de). The Agency is financed by the state and has a public mandate to act as the general representative of adult education in Lower Saxony, including execution of a number of public functions. AEWB was established in 2006 in order to manage a number of tasks defined in the Lower Saxonian Adult Education Act. This includes quality management, innovation and development in adult education, financial aid, and staff training. The Angency supports all publicly funded adult learning providers in Lower Saxony in terms of management and promoting adult learning services.
AEWB manages in behalf of NBEB also the activities of the German partner organisation in the Finale project.
